Start with data
Gather product names, codes, dimensions, materials, units and options in one technically reviewed source. Resolve naming differences between sales, stock records and the catalogue before designing pages.
Organize for the buyer’s search
Buyers may search by application, dimension or material rather than an internal name. Provide a clear index and consistent specification fields. Use dimensional drawings where they explain more than decorative photography.
Example: similar parts in several sizes
Compare options in a table with a distinct code for each and visible units in column headings. Explain which details a quotation request needs, such as code, quantity and intended use.
Plan for updates
Keep an internal version and review date, identify frequently changing pages and provide a searchable digital copy. Test copying codes on a phone. Update the website and sales file together to avoid conflicting versions.
