Map the product family

List current and planned products with names, variants, sizes and genuine differences. Decide what stays consistent to identify the brand and what changes to identify the product. Total variation fragments a range; no variation makes selection confusing.

Use more than color

Pair a supporting color with a clear variant name or meaningful symbol. Lighting, thumbnail size and differences in color perception can affect recognition. Test in grayscale and on a phone to see whether essential information remains clear.

Example: three similar bottles

Keep the brand and size in consistent positions. Give each variant name a repeated reading area and vary a secondary color while maintaining contrast. Print actual-size samples and ask someone to select a variant before approving the whole range.

Review information before print

Designers arrange information; the product owner and relevant specialists approve ingredients, directions, warnings and claims. Do not remove essential details for visual simplicity. Allow for variable data and check proofs on the intended material.
